Chicago Illinois – If you are planning on traveling this holiday season, to O’Hare international Airport, or to see friends and family in the Chicagoland area, how about leaving the car at home and take the train to your holiday destination this year so you can skip the busy holiday traffic. Metra is offering special holiday schedules also family fares that will begin on Monday the 22 of December and go to Friday the 2nd of January 2026 to make your travel more relaxed and enjoyable. Trains will be operating on reduced Schedules on all lines on Christmas Eve on December 24 on December 25th Christmas all trains will be operating on its Holiday / Sunday schedule except for the North Central line, southwest service and the heritage corridor service will not be operating on Christmas Day. You can get the holiday tickets for $7.00 and unlimited rides on Christmas Day on all Metra lines for the entire day and Children ages 11 and under can ride for free with adult only three kids per each adult can ride for free with Metra’s family fair program on all Metra lines on weekdays and weekends all day for all travel between December 22 – January 2. You can buy a holiday ticket from conductors, the Ventra app or a ticket vending machine.
