Gurnee Illinois – On Friday the 30th of January the Gurnee Police Department has launched a program to help Officers at traffic stops with people with autism according to a press release from the Gurnee Police Department that they sent out on Friday afternoon. The Gurnee Police said that they started the blue envelop program in partnership with the Autism hero project. This program will make positive and safer interactions between officers and people with autism during any interactions including traffic stops and emergency situations where individuals on the autism spectrum will encounter an officer. The envelop contains essential information, including identification, vehicle registration, emergency contacts, and communication preferences, allowing officers to respond calmly and appropriately. If you wish to participate in the blue envelop program, it is completely free and voluntary to participate in the program no questions asked.
Anyone on the autism spectrum who lives, works, or spends time in Gurnee Illinois can pick up a Blue Envelope at partnering locations here are this some of the locations where you can get a blue envelop from if you wish to participate in the program.

Warren-Newport Public Library: 224 N. O’Plaine Rd, Gurnee, IL
Warren Township Center: 17801 W. Washington St., Gurnee, IL
